Harrington now serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Harrington Management Systems. He is also on the Board of Directors for a number of small to medium-size companies helping them develop their business strategies. He also serves as President of the Walter L. Hurd Foundation and Honorary Advisor for Quality for China.
Harrington spent 40 years with IBM mostly in management positions. When he retired from IBM, he formed a consulting firm called Harrington, Hurd and Rieker. He was CEO of the consulting firm until it was purchased by Ernst and Young.
Harrington served as a principal of Ernst and Young with the title of International Quality Advisor. He retired from Ernst and Young to take over as the CEO of SystemCorp, a small software development company in Montreal with approximately 150 programmers. He managed it until it was sold to IBM.
In 2000 he formed a consulting firm, Harrington Institute, and served as its CEO until 2014. Harrington Institute established branches in Canada, China, United Arab Emirates and the U.S. He served as its CEO until it was sold.
Harrington has received many awards and recognition trophies throughout his 70 years activity in promoting quality and high performance throughout the world. He has had many performance improvement awards named after him from countries around the world.
