Over the past twelve months a research team from Zayed University, sponsored by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment For Young Business Leaders, conducted the second study into entrepreneur activity within the United Arab Emirates. The team were members of the 2007 Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) consortium of forty-two nations investigating entrepreneur activity within their own country. As in the previous report, the 2007 study presents comparisons across the participating nations, but presents more comprehensive coverage of the entrepreneur
environment, including the nation’s orientation toward innovation within the UAE. This year the World Bank UAE ‘Ease of Doing Business’ ratings are compared with the UAE-GEM study findings.
Greater depth of analysis is given to the data collected from over two thousand respondents in a National Random Sample and a further one thousand Emirati with strategic comparisons made between the two groups of respondents. This report should be greatly helpful to public policy makers, current and future entrepreneurs, entrepreneur educators, as well as, any one interested in entrepreneur activity within the UAE
