Haithem F. Al-Ratrout

Born in Nablus, Palestine. He received a bachelor degree in Architectural Enginnering from An-Najah National University in Palestine in 1995, a master degree in Islamic Archeology and Architecture from Al-Quds University in 1998, a master degree and a doctorate in Islamic Architecture and building science from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, England in 2002. He received the Jerusalem Prize for Young Muslim Scholars from the Islamic Research Academy of England in 1999 for presenting a new theory to explain the planning and architectural design of the Dome of the Rock. He worked in the departments of architecture and archeology at An-Najah National University since 1995 and became head of the architecture department in 2008 till 2011. He has many published works and scientific papers dealing with the architecture and the archaeology of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its Islamic architectural identity and development. He participated in many scientific conferences on Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine, Jordan, Algeria, Yemen, Malaysia, Turkey and England.
