Researched and written by the Ruler s Office, and released on 6 August 1968, marking the second anniversary of Sheikh Zayed s accession as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, approximately three years before the formation of the modern-day United Arab Emirates in December 1971. The publication reviews the achievements of the 1966-68 period, while also presenting Sheikh Zayed s ambitious goals across education, infrastructure, public health, housing, communications and other aspects of life. It includes a section on the 1967-1972 five year plan, outlining future targets. Divided into five chapters: 1) The Land and Its people 2) Historical Survey of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi 3) Twenty Years in Al-Ein, 4) Two Glorious Years, 5) The Emirate of Abu Dhabi in 1972. Illustrated with hundreds of contemporary black & white photos showing all aspects of life in the Emirate, including Sheikh Zayed s official meetings and engagements, agriculture, utilities and infrastructure, travel, traditional life, construction and more. Features tabular data with statistics on the Emirate s economy, industry, agriculture and population.
